Mother's Trash boyfriend 'lost it,'and punched 2-year-old in the face before her death

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, MI -- A man charged with child abuse in the death of a 2-year-old girl this week confessed to "losing it" and punching the child in the face, according to an arrest affidavit.

Londyn Florine Marie Amir, 2, died Wednesday, May 2, at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in Grand Rapids. She was hospitalized late Sunday evening with critical injuries.

Rickey Len Whiteside Jr., 29, was charged with first-degree child abuse Wednesday, and police expect more significant charges to be brought against him in the near future. 

Further examination by doctors found traumatic injuries consistent with abuse for an undetermined amount of time, court records show.
